How to Use Your Acupressure Mat.

Meditation, Mental Health and Sleep

Lie on your back and support your head with the acupressure pillow or your own. For extra relaxation, turn of the lights or burn a candle and listen to relaxing music or sounds.

You will know when your body has fully entered the state of relaxation and is ready for sleep. During this time we advise to immerse yourself in the process by not using any electronics.

Simply quiet your mind, focus on your breath or recite affirmations in preparation for a deep sleep and wake up refreshed.

We recommend using the mat in bed right before you want to sleep and make direct skin to mat contact for between 20 - 40 minutes.

Sciatica.

You can sit or lie directly on the mat + the pillow when treating sciatica. If you are seated, pull your knees to your chest, arch your back and tuck your head into your knees to feel the stretch.

If you want to target the under/inner area of your buttocks sit upright on the pillow with your legs crossed, press down on your knees for added pressure.

Increase Energy.

Place your mat on the floor, stand firmly with both feet for a minute or so before moving around the mat - walk back and forth, from side to side, up and down or simply in a marching motion on the spot. Do this for around 5 minutes or until you feel your energy increase.

Put on some upbeat music for an extra lift.

Target Specific Areas.

If you want to isolate a particular pain point position the pillow along the area of your body you want to target - e.g. your lower back or stomach.

To warm up and relax your hamstrings sit on the mat an L position to apply pressure. To target your quads, lie face down on the mat and use the pillow or arms to support your head.

To target any pain on the side of your body, simply lie on your side on the mat, this is particularly good for your outer thighs and hips.

Headaches and Migraines

Lie down with the bottom your head/top of your neck (where your neck muscles meet the base of your head) firmly rested on the acupressure pillow. You may also want to lie on the mat to enable your body to produce for endorphins.

Then use pillow to apply pressure to the area of the migraine which will ease the tension and promote blood circulation.

Once you are rested, with your right hand, place your thumb and index finger at the base of your left thumb and index finger. Apply pressure and move in a circular motion for 5 minutes. Repeat this on your left hand.

You can also use the pillow to apply pressure to the area of the migraine which will ease the tension and promote blood circulation.

Ensure the room is dark, comfortable, free of noise and use for as long as needed.

Back Pain.

Place the mat on a firm surface e.g. floor, sofa or bed. Position the mat and pillow close together to ensure you get the right support.

Bend your knees, place both feet firmly on the floor and find a distance between your feet and the mat that allows your lower back to be firmly against the mat.

You can also bring your knees to your chest and perform a rocking motion (proceed with caution, it may hurt).

Neck Pain.

Neck pain is often caused from tension and poor posture. You can begin to release tension and easy muscle soreness in your neck by placing the acupillow and applying pressure in a few different places.

1. Place the pillow in your neck fold between your head and back.

2. The base of the skull where the neck muscles attach.

3. Top of the back.

4. Each side of your shoulders.

Remember neck movement is also key to prevent stiffness and tension build up.

The pillow has the mobility to target any pain point and can also be used for posture correction/restoration by placing it behind your back when seated or used as a foot rest.

Benefits of Acupressure.

✅NATURAL HEALING: Boost your bodies natural defences and healing powers in under 30 minutes. Adding our home acupressure therapy kit to your wellness routine will give you a natural pain relief; manage/relieve back pain; deep sleep aid; increase blood flow; release endorphins; alleviate headaches and migraines; release stress and anxiety; oxygenate your body; improve mindfulness; generate energy; compliment sports + workout recovery; deeply relax your muscles and offer a full body like massage anywhere, anytime.

✅HOLISTIC THERAPY: Good for your mind and body. Spending anywhere between 5 - 60 minutes on the mat will trigger your body to release endorphins, reduce pain and boost pleasure. As the pain begins to subside and the muscles start to relax, the nervous system produces chemicals that ignites our feel good hormones in the brain. An ideal way to incorporate the mind is using the mat during meditation or mindfulness to immerse yourself in a holistic practice.

✅ULTIMATE RELIEF: Containing over 7000 lotus spikes with mat dimensions of 72x44x2cm, this enables equal body distribution whether using on a small or large surface of your body by activating all the pressure points. The buckwheat filled pillow makes it ideal for targeting specific pain points and especially comfortable when using for your head and neck.

This makes it perfect for at home pain management and overall relaxation.

Things to Know.

If you are sensitive to pain or have never used an acupressure mat before, it is advised to start off wearing a thin top until you are comfortable with the direct to skin contact (advised for best results)

It is normal to feel the temperature of your skin increase and this is nothing to be concerned about. The intents in your skin from the mat will also disappear quickly and leave no lasting marks.

When removing yourself from the mat do so slowly.
